Life on the line

This Winter, Unsinkable is honoured to be be partnering with Twentytwenty Arts (Founded by Unsinkable ambassador Megan Kee) for Life on the Line. Life on the Line is a public art project and mental health awareness campaign using art to raise funds for mental health support. Ten Ontario-based artists will be sharing their artwork and stories on Unsinkable every week until January 2021.

“I couldn’t be more grateful for Unsinkable’s partnership in this year’s iteration of Life on the Line. Life on the Line was my response to sitting on the subway, every single day, to and from a job that I hated, recognizing that this public space could be used to start a meaningful conversation around mental health”, explained Megan.

Artist stories will be published here at Unsinkable over the duration of the campaign every Friday, from Nov 16th, 2020 – Jan 16th, 2021.

All ten works will be available for sale in signed and numbered limited editions of 50, where 75% of all sales will be donated directly to the Canadian Mental Health Association Toronto’s Family Outreach & Response Program. Canadian Mental Health Association is the largest service-based mental health organization in Canada. The Family Outreach and Response Program (FOR) at CMHA Toronto is a recovery-oriented and trauma-informed program that provides much needed support to families in the City of Toronto. FOR is a unique program that works with families whose loved ones are struggling with mental health issues. Providing families with information, tools, and support improves not only the well-being of families, but also the recovery of their loved ones. FOR fills a critical gap in our mental health system, working with many families whose loved one is not receiving any mental health support. FOR is often the only service available to these families who would otherwise be excluded from the system.

Megan Kee is the Founder and Director of Twentytwenty Arts, a creative agency in Toronto that produces art-focused campaigns for charitable organizations with a special focus on mental health, homelessness, and addiction. Informed by her own experiences, and a mission to humanize stigmatized populations, Megan collaborates with artists and charities to raise funds for their programs, increase donor engagement, and raise awareness for some of society’s most pressing issues. With over 10 years of experience in the fine-art industry, Megan believes in the power of visual art to create meaningful change in the social impact landscape.
